Hair needs constant attention in order to keep it looking healthy and nothing can replace the benefits of herbal remedies. No amount of shampooing or conditioning (mind you, they are all chemicals and are harsh) can restore damaged hair. Here are a few tips to keep hair in good shape.

Herbal Hot Oil Treatment Recipe

This recipe is beneficial for dry and damaged hair, or hair that has gone through extensive treatment such as perming, straightening, frequent blow-drying and so on.

Use equal amounts of Olive Oil, Walnut Oil andPeanut Oil. Heat them in a non-metallic container. You’ll need one ounce per use depending on the length of your hair. To this mixture add some drops of Essential Oil of Rosemary.

Brush your hair well and wet it. Then apply the warm oil to the scalp and work it through to the ends of your hair.

Have a hot damp towel ready and wrap it around your head for the oil to soak in completely. Shampoo twice with a good natural shampoo, rinse with very warm water and then cool water to contract the pores.

Avocado Repair Recipe

Blend one egg thoroughly in a blender. Add half an avocado and a tablespoon of mayonnaise or Olive Oil. Spread evenly all over your scalp and work it in. Wrap it with a towel and leave it on for an hour. Shampoo and rinse.

Hair Rinses

Tea and beer rinses are known to improve the look of the hair. Used tea leaves should be boiled again in water. Strain the liquid, cool and use as a rinse after your shampoo.

Lemon juice added to a mug of water and used as a last rinse helps oily hair, while honey diluted in water helps to moisturise a dry scalp.

Henna as a conditioner

Henna can be mixed with yoghurt, lemon juice, eggs and coffee. For dry hair add some coconut or olive oil. The paste should be applied on the head for an hour or so. enic, but it can also change the shape of your nails forever and damage them excessively.

Hair Loss

If you are losing hair or your scalp is oily, use Essential Oils of Lemongrass and Rosemary in Olive Oil and rinse with fresh squeezed lemon juice after shampooing.

Onion juice applied to the scalp will help promote growth and you could throw a few cabbage leaves into the juicer with the onions too.

Proper Brushing Technique

It is best not to brush your hair when it is wet. Avoid blow-drying your hair as much as possible.

Use soft bristled brushes and wooden combs. They are much gentler on the hair.

Turn your head upside down to brush. It improves circulation.

Keep your brushes and combs clean by washing them in hot soapy water.
